The Roshawn Russell era is off a great start for the "Running" Mustang hoops team as they have won six out of seven to begin the season, and on Tuesday evening at St. Rita the "Running" Mustangs lived up to their name as they ran the St. Laurence Vikings right off the floor in a convincing 88-65 win over their Catholic League rival.

St. Rita jumped out to a quick eight-point lead in the first quarter, and they never looked back as they registered a season-high in points.  Senior power forward Connor Serven led the way for the Mustangs pouring in a career-high 27 points on (11-14) shooting while grabbing 8 rebounds.  Senior small forward Kevin Murney chipped in with 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Mustangs used their huge height advantage to score at will all night long in the paint.

Guards Alec Millender (17 points) and Christian Henry (10 points) also reached double figures for St. Rita as they shot a season-best 62% from the field (34-55) for the contest.

The St. Rita defense held the high-powered Viking perimeter attack to 35% shooting on the evening including a paltry 21% from three-point range.

The win improved the Mustangs to (6-1, 2-1) on the season as they also moved to (2-0) at home.  St. Rita will take this Friday night off from Catholic League action as they will prepare to play Public League power Simeon on Sunday 5:15pm at Mt. Carmel High School in the Annual Rose Shootout.
