It was another busy week in St. Rita sports as the varsity football team returned home after a brutal 3-week road stretch while the soccer team battled Providence for the Augustinian Cup and the golf team competed at the Ridge Invite.

The weather did not exactly cooperate Friday night causing the varsity football team to wait an extra day to put an end to their 3-game losing streak as their game against Marian Central Catholic was delayed and eventually postponed to Saturday early in the opening quarter.

Marian Central kicked a field goal as the game resumed on Saturday afternoon at Doyle Stadium to take an early 3-0 lead, but the Mustangs would score the next 44 points in the game as they overwhelmed their visitors from Woodstock by a final score of 44-10.

Sophomore running back Kaleb Brown (10 carries, 168 yards, 3 TDs) led the offensive attack while the defense produced 2 turnovers including a 47-yard fumble return for a touchdown by senior captain Michael Milton.

Junior receiver Isiah Bragg returned the second half kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown and junior running back Darryl Holcomb scored a touchdown on the ground as the Mustangs dominated the Hurricanes from start to finish.

St. Rita (2-3) will next travel to Providence Catholic to battle the Celtics at 7pm Friday night.

The varsity golf team competed in the Ridge Invite over the weekend finishing 4th overall out of 8 teams.  They were lead by junior Liam McKillop who posted an 83 which was good enough for 8th overall in the tournament, his second top ten finish in the month of September.  Next up for the "Swinging" Mustangs will be the Chicago Catholic League Conference Championship on Wednesday at Cog Hill.

The varsity soccer team continued its winning ways with a (3-0) week highlighted by a 7-5 win over at Providence to once again bring home the Augustinian Cup.  The "Kicking" Mustangs also defeated St. Joseph (10-2) and Guerin Prep (3-0) on the week.
